"Leonard Bernstein, Citizen Artist: an Overview"
This introductory session organizes Bernstein’s multifaceted legacy into four main categories: composer, conductor, educator, and activist/humanitarian.

Incredibly enough, these two iconic Bernstein musicals, while vastly different from each other, were written simultaneously. This session is a close examination of the two works.

This fourth and final session demonstrates how words were every bit as beloved to Leonard Bernstein as were musical notes – and the exploration touches on works in which music is intertwined with text – the latter often being Bernstein’s own.
